Objetivos de tratamiento de la filosofía face. Casos clínicos

English abstract
The FACE philosophy is characterized by clearly defined treatment goals. This increases diagnostic ability and improves the quality and stability of the end result. The objective is to establish ideal occlusion with good facial esthetics and an orthopedic stable joint position.At this article, we start describing the different goals of this philoso- phy: facial esthetics, dental esthetics, functional occlusion, periodontaltissues, airway and stability. Afterwards, we present two case reports that we consider reflectthe principles of this treatment philosophy. Both cases presented ar- ticular problems and received a first treatment phase with a splint, fo- llowed by a phase with fixed appliances for vertical control with skele- tal anchorage. We describe the diagnosis, the treatment plan and thetreatment mechanics, and we show how we achieved the treatment goals of the FACE philosophy, previously described. La filosofía FACE está caracterizada por objetivos de tratamiento claramente definidos.1Esto aumenta la habilidad diagnóstica y mejora la calidad y estabilidad del resultado final de tratamiento. El objetivo es establecer una oclusión ideal con buena estética facial y una posición ortopédica condilar estable.2 En este artículo, comenzamos describiendo los diferentes objetivos de tratamiento de la filosofía FACE: la estética facial, la estética dental,la oclusión funcional, la salud periodontal, las vías aéreas y la estabi- lidad.A continuación, presentamos dos casos que consideramos reflejanlos principios de esta filosofía de tratamiento. Ambos casos presen- taban problemas articulares, y recibieron una primera fase de trata- miento con férula, seguida de una fase de aparatología fija con controlvertical por medio de anclaje esquelético. Se habla del diagnóstico, plan de tratamiento y mecánica de tratamiento, y se muestra cómo seconsiguieron los objetivos de tratamiento de la filosofía FACE, descri- tos previamente.Palabras clave: objetivos de tratamiento, posición condilar orto- pédicamente estable, oclusión funcional, estética facial.Download paper (PDF)
