Missing lateral incisors. Treatment options Martín Salvador D, Canábez Berthet A, Goenaga Echeveste P, Gómez Bollain I, Zabalegui Andonegui I ABStract A dilemma appears when a patient with missing lateral incisors comes in to our office: could the space being opened orclosed? The decision is not simple at all, and sometimes the periodontic and prosthodontic opinions should be taken into consi- deration. Due to this is important for the orthodontist to be in agreement with the rest of the specialist, specially of the treatmentlimitations when diagnosis is made. (Rev Esp Ortod 2007;37:35-48). Cuando un paciente con agenesia de uno o ambos laterales llega a la consulta se nos plantea una disyuntiva: ¿abrir o cerrar espacios? La toma de decisiones no siempre es sencilla, y en muchas ocasiones debemos tener en cuenta la opinión de otrosprofesionales como el periodoncista o el dentista restaurador. Debido a esto, es interesante tener en cuenta las diferentes situa- ciones que como ortodoncistas se nos van a plantear, y trabajar con los mismos criterios que el resto de profesionales para estaral tanto de las limitaciones de tratamiento en el momento de la realización del diagnóstico.
