Armando Dias

Hi, I´m Armando Dias da Silva, a Portuguese orthodontics specialist with practice in Oporto and it’s an honor to publish my first case in this group.

This 25yrs old male patient was one of my first MARPE treatments; once you start to use CBCT on a routine basis you´ll immediately begin to diagnose much more true skeletal transverse discrepancies than before because they were clinically camouflaged by molar torque compensations.

So, you then realize that maxillary endognathy must be treated in its origin, addressing the skeletal transverse discrepancy issue, and not by dental expansion with expanded arch wires or aligners.

Dental expansion to camouflage skeletal transverse discrepancy will increase instability and possible periodontal issues.

Diagnosis is the key…

Thank you very much to Dr. Domingo Martin Salvador and Dr. Iñigo Gómez Bollain for this invitation.

All comments will be welcome.
Hope you like it!

Dear Face friends:
I would never have solved this clinical case without FACE philosophy and without a mentor like Dr. Domingo Martin and Dr. Alberto Canabez.

This young girl came to my office after suffering a left condyle fracture in an accident. She was referred from the maxillofacial surgeon after physiotherapist treatment didn’t work on her and she was in terrible pain. Her facial appearance was not a concern. She told me she would only go for the orthognathic treatment in case we were not able to solve her pain and occlusal instability with the orthodontic treatment. It is a real pleasure sharing this clinical case in this group!

Ambar Zalnieriunas

Dear Friends:

I’m Ambar Zalnieriunas from Venezuela, blessed by making my FACE training with Domingo. I’m pleased and honored to be able to share with you this interesting case. The patient came at an early age and refused early treatment. The patient was diagnosed with facial asymmetry and mild Class II malocclusion, in his past medical history there was a severe trauma to the chin. The patient returned two years later, however his situation had worsened. He presented with right condylar osteoarthritis, TMJ symptoms and a more severe malocclusion. We did all diagnostic records and prepared him for surgery.

I’m very happy of being in this wonderful group, where altogether we are growing in friendship and orthodontics skills. I can’t wait until March 2021 to be able to meet all of you at the FACE REVOLUTION INTERNATIONAL MEETING, see you all in Madrid.

Alexander Plaksin

I am Alex Plaksin an orthodontist and Specialist in 3D processing from Moscow Russia. Today I want to present this case of a patient with Class II-2 and deep bite. Sorry for not including the pictures with the mounted models but I do not have them. This case illustrates how much information we can get with dicom 3d images.

This is a growing patient and I used anterior cranial base region as reference for accurate superimposition and precise label map in order to provide detailed visual information. In this imaging case half the work was done using artificial intelligence (2d reconstructions and label map extraction) It’s quite a step for all of us.

Adina Sirbu

Dear friends, I am Adina Sirbu from Romania. I did my FACE training with Domingo Martín,Renato Cocconi,Alberto Canábez,Jorge Ayala, and I am very happy that I can treat my patients in this way.
It is true what Domingo Martín use to say :»There is no easy case if you want to achieve all the treatment objectives!». The case bellow is one in which we have a CO-CR discrepancy so that Class 2 in CO is not the same as class 2 in CR. Along side conventional diagnostic tools I also did a digital setup so that I can better evaluate the case and have a better diagnostic and treatment plan. Posterior facial dimension is good so that I decided to distalize the upper arch using skeletal anchorage.
